Vascular access — whether an AV fistula or permcath — is the true lifeline for dialysis patients. Yet in many parts of India, thousands face delays or unsafe alternatives due to financial constraints or lack of access to surgical expertise.
LIFELINE, an initiative by KHI , ensures that no patient is left behind when it comes to starting or continuing safe dialysis.
What LIFELINE Does:
- Free or subsidised AV fistula and permcath surgeries for economically disadvantaged patients
- Partnering with hospitals and surgeons to expand access across underserved regions
- Patient screening and coordination for timely, safe access creation
- Connecting patients to post-op care and follow-up support
- Advocating for universal access to safe dialysis infrastructure
Why It Matters:
- Delaying vascular access means delaying life-saving treatment. Temporary catheters increase risk of infection and death. LIFELINE gives patients a safer start, better outcomes, and hope for a healthier tomorrow
