What a day! Truly grateful to get the opportunity to make meaningful contribution to the society this World Kidney Day. Yesterday, on the occasion of World Kidney Day had an incredible chance to bring together students, patients, healthcare professionals, and the wider community for a meaningful day focused on kidney health awareness and prevention. The event took place in one of the most iconic colleges in Chennai, Dr. MGR-Janaki College Of Arts And Science For Women.
The highlight of the event was a giant kidney formation created by over 400 students, symbolising the collective responsibility we all share in protecting kidney health and spreading awareness.
The event also marked several important initiatives:
1. Launch of the KHI Patient Membership Card, aimed at strengthening patient support and access to guidance
2. Launch of the KHI Website, creating a platform for awareness, education, and patient resources: khitrust.org
3. Patient stories and awareness sessions, reminding us why early detection and prevention matter
4. Wide media coverage across newspapers and news channels, helping the message reach a much larger audience
Kidney disease often progresses silently, and many patients discover it only at advanced stages. Initiatives like these are an important step toward building awareness, encouraging early testing, and improving access to care.
My sincere thanks to the students, faculty, guests, patients, and all partners who supported this effort and helped amplify the message of kidney health. Every conversation about prevention matters. And every step toward awareness can help save lives.
When was the last time you checked your Kidney health?
