Another milestone for Indian Organ Transplant Associates (iORTA) & KHI.

At Varanasi, after months of relentless effort, IORTA has launched its Kidney Transplant program by successfully performing a live kidney transplant at APEX SUPERSPECIALITY HOSPITAL – Heartfelt thanks to D MRR, Urology & Nephro team, Dr Swaroop Patel of Apex Hospitals.

In Uttar Pradesh, Kidney transplants are still limited to only a handful of centres. Even with willing live donors, patients often face months or years of waiting, financial hurdles, and shortage of local expertise—forcing many to travel to Lucknow or Delhi.

This success brings hope home to Varanasi.

Made possible under the CM Scheme, with vital financial support from KHI, the transplant was executed by IORTA’s expert team, including a laparoscopic donor nephrectomy — a standard of care rarely available in this region.

The moment was even more profound — a sister gifting life to her brother, performed in the sacred month of Raksha Bandhan. A bond of love, transformed into a bond of life.

This is the beginning of a new chapter for UP, where world-class transplant care will no longer be a privilege of the few, but a right for many.
